• Shelf life of soap differs widely on how you treat it between uses. A lot of fancy soap dishes don’t have proper drainage to allow the soap to dry between uses. The more use the soap gets, the more important this is.

• Handmade cold process soap does not contain stabilizers and chemicals like store bought soap. In fact, store bought soap is considered detergent and has little in common with handmade cold process soap.

• Kept dry and allowed to breathe, it should last for about a year. Avoid heat, sunlight and moisture.

• Once you start using it: A soap dish/saver and allowing the bar to dry between uses helps it last MUCH longer and prevent it from “melting.” How long it will last will depend on how much you like to lather, and if you’re using it just for hands, or in the shower.
